Richard I (September 8, 1157 – April 6, 1199) was King of England from 1189
to 1199. He was often referred to as Richard the Lionheart, Coeur de
Lion. He was considered a hero in his day and has often been portrayed
as one in works of literature. He was a military mastermind, and
politically wise in many ways; yet incredibly foolish in others, and
unwilling to give way to public opinion. He was capable of great
humility as well as great arrogance. He loved his family, but behaved
ruthlessly to his enemies. He was revered by his most worthy rival,
Saladin, and respected by the Emperor Henry, but hated by many who had been
his friends, especially King Philip. He was often careless of his own
safety. The wound which killed him need not have been inflicted at all
if he had been properly armored.

KNIGHTS FLEUR SHIELD This
Knight's Shield is a red and blue metal shield with yellow borders.
The shield features fleur de lis symbols, which stands for the Holy Trinity
- Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
In the olden times, a knight's shield had various forms and shapes. It
could be round, square, or the kite shaped and was used to defend the knight
from attack. They could be made of metal for strong protection, but
during the 14th and 15th centuries they were usually made of wood for easy
carrying. A knight's shield protected him from the blows of battle as
he held it in one hand while he carried his sword or lance in his other.
The shield was held with one of two types of straps: the enarmes (familiar
hand straps) or the guige (the shoulder strap). This one is equipped
with bolted rubber handle and forearm strap for holding and reenacting and
an attached chain for wall hanging for an outstanding wall display.

CROSS TEMPLAR CRUSADER SHIELD
This formidable Crusader Templar Shield is historically accurate and
beautifully crafted. A Crusader knight's shield was both a source of
protection and a means of identification. It was a source of great pride and
essential to any Crusader's survival.
Quartered between the branches of the cross on the Crusader Templar shield
are the lions of England and the fleur-de-lis of France in brass. A Formé
Branché Cross is centered on a white, antiqued crackle background. Black
banding with metal studs surround the kite-shaped shield.
The symbols of both France and England are proof of the long reach and great
power of the Knights Templar during the Crusaders Era. No group was more
feared or respected, both for their fearlessness in battle and their
dedication to their cause.
Equipped with bolted rubber handle and forearm strap for holding and
reenacting and an attached chain for wall hanging for an outstanding wall
display.
