Centrifugal Casting
Centrifugal Casting
Centrifugal casting, also known as spin/spun casting, is employed for making hollow round profiles up to 236”/6000 mm diameter. Due to the high centrifugal forces any impurities in the molten metal are forced to gather in the centre of the casting and easily machined out afterwards. This process ensures that centrifugally cast material is close-grained and defect free with superior hardness, strength, and ductility. Because of these features, centrifugal casting is ideally suited for high-reliability applications requiring improved strength, and high durability and performance such as jet engine compressor cases, engine cylinder liners, and bushings.
Kormax’s Centrifugally Cast Metals Range
Kormax offers a range of centrifugally manufactured rotationally symmetric stock materials in standard sizes for further machining. Knowing how crucial these materials are to our customers’ projects, we offer a cut-to-size same day dispatch service.
Custom sized centrifugal castings can also be supplied, machined to near net size.
Advantages
High material soundness, fine grain structures and defect-free
High mechanical strength
Dimensional integrity
Cost effective with high casting yield
Reduced machining requirements
